Dear Parents,

Our school year is off to a great start! We had a great Welcome Back celebration with our Band, Cheerleaders, Associated Student Body, Link Crew and Renaissance groups warmly and enthusiastically welcoming our students to the 2016-2017 school year! Our students are glad to be back in school!

As we get into the routine of school, I strongly encourage all our students to take every class period and every assignment seriously. It is important that we make the best of our school time by being diligent, and hardworking. It is in these times that I am grateful for our teachers and staff who work tirelessly to ensure that our students are not only inspired and making progress in their A-G courses but making sure they are College and Career Ready as well.

We are excited to continue with our web based communication system School Loop. School Loop allows our parents and students to connect with our teachers and their upcoming assignments and grades with a click of the button. Please take advantage of this powerful system to ensure that our students are successful.

In the next couple of weeks, our band and athletic teams will be in competition. Our Performing Arts will be rehearsing for productions. Please show your support by attending our events. I know our students would love to see you!

I am thankful for our school community and for all the support that you continue to show us. Working Together, we will continue to build our school, recognized as one of the best high schools in America, to greater heights! I look forward to seeing you around campus.

Sincerely,

Kern Oduro, Ph.D

Dear Colony Family,

For the past 4 years, juniors in our U.S. History classes have had the honor of hosting veterans on the Thursday before Veterans Day. We are excited for our students to live history through the eyes of veterans who selflessly served our country. Our students’ lives are enriched because of the interactions among our veterans and students. This year, we host Colony Commemorates on Thursday, November 3rd from 7:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served at the event.

Here is where we need your help: Could you please put us in contact with a veteran who is willing to share their experiences with students? If so, please contact Mr. Jim Miller, one of our biology teachers on campus who helps with this outstanding event at jim@biologistjim.com. When you email Mr. Miller, please give us the name of the veteran and a contact telephone number. We will contact the veteran and then give them a formal invitation.

OR

Could you fill out this google form with the pertinent information regarding your veteran? http://tinyurl.com/Colony-Commemorates-2016  Again, we will contact the veteran and offer them a formal invitation.

We would love to hear from you.

Thank you for helping our school honor veterans.

Dr. Oduro
